POLICE, firefighters and volunteers, who intensified their search this morning (Tuesday) for a man reported missing from a town just inland from Spain’s Costa del Sol, have found a lifeless body at the foot of a gorge.
According to the National Police relatives of the missing man reported his disappearance on Saturday in Ronda – a town popular with holidaying tourists and famous for its 100m (300ft) high bridge that spans a gorge that divides the mountain town.
The local man’s vehicle had been located nearby.
His family had not heard anything from him since 8.30pm on November 3. He was described as approximately 1.77m tall, of normal build and dark complexion and dressed in jeans, a blue shirt and a green jacket.
On Monday specialist abseilers descended into the gorge near the Parador as other emergency services were joined by friends of the missing man but no sign of him was found.
However, searchers did the remains of another man who disappeared seven years ago in an advanced state of decomposition.
The corpse was found carrying a wallet with documentation and it is believed to be a 26-year-old man of Puerto Real (Cadiz), who disappeared in Ronda in 2011.
