THE GUARDIA CIVIL in Spain continued their search for the missing British animal trainer, Amy Louise Gerard, who disappeared in Tenerife, Canary Islands.
Guardia Civil sources have stated that a woman’s body has been discovered near the spot where Ms. Gerard disappeared.
The lifeless body was discovered opposite a lighthouse in the city of Puerto de la Cruz at around 11.30am.
The 28-year-old animal trainer is known to have lived nearby to the lighthouse after she moved to Spain from Grimsby.
However, Police sources are yet to confirm that the discovered body is that of Ms Gerard.
A Guardia Civil spokesman said: “I can confirm a woman’s body has been found in the sea.”
“It is too early to say at this stage whether it is that of the missing Briton or not.”
Ms. Gerard’s family have reportedly flown to Tenerife and are being kept up to date on the latest developments.
Reports suggest Ms. Gerard went missing after a night out with colleagues last Friday night, she has not been seen since leaving an Irish pub in the Puerto de la Cruz area.
