BRITAIN’S Prime Minister will remain in office after seeing off an unsuccessful challenge against her leadership of the Conservatives.
Theresa May faced having to resign if she lost the no confidence vote which was called after 48 Conservative MPs backed the move earlier today. The Prime Minister won the vote by a margin of 200 to 117, with the results announced at 10pm.
The ballot was called amidst ongoing concerns over the survival of May’s EU Withdrawal Agreement. The Prime Minister had to delay the vote after admitting that she did not have the numbers to get it through Parliament. A new date for the vote has not yet been announced.
