THE National Police saved a woman from jumping off the S’Illot cliffs in attempt of taking her own life in Mallorca, Spain last week.
According to a press release issued by the National Police, officers in Manacor (Mallorca) received a call from emergency services warning the police force of a woman who had left her home in S’Illot with the intention of committing suicide.
After receiving a brief description of the woman and her vehicle, police officers initiated an emergency search around the cliffs of S’Illot (Punta Pagel), where similar incidents had occurred in the past.
Members of the police force found a badly parked car near the cliffs and decided to continue the search on foot.
Soon after, police officers spotted the woman standing on the edge of the cliff.
To avoid making noise and being noticed by the woman, officers decided to dispose of their equipment and move slowly towards her.
According to the National Police, they arrived just in time and a momentary struggle occurred between the woman and the police officers.
During efforts to prevent the woman from jumping off the cliff, some of the police officer’s clothes were torn by sharp rocks.
